Family Cycle Sales is a small, friendly shop located on Highway 74 West in Hamlet, NC just across from the Whistle Stop Station shopping center & Food Lion.
Everyone who works at Family Cycle Sales rides a motorcycle.
Mark Cockerton, the owner of Family Cycle Sales, has been riding since 11 years of age. His first adventure on two wheels was an old Lambretta Scooter given by his cousin Jed. After working on it for weeks, Mark and his dad got it running again and Mark was hooked!
He poured over every book and magazine about motorcycles he could find and owned a series of classic bikes: a Suzuki 250 Hustler, a 1959 Ariel Arrow (which he converted to a dirt bike) and a Greeves 250. With the help of his brother Tim and a few friends who shared his passion for two wheels, Mark repaired and rode dozens of old bikes.
Mark currently rides a 1982 Shovelhead, but says he’s interested in just about any bike:
“I don’t care if you ride a Vespa, a Honda or Ducati… if you ride, you are OK in my book.” – Mark Cockerton, Owner of Family Cycle Sales
